Our History

The (ISC)² Kenya Chapter was officially formed on August 19, 2020, born from a collective ambition to create a dedicated local hub for the growing number of (ISC)² certified professionals in the country. In the face of a rapidly evolving digital landscape in Kenya, a forward-thinking group of security leaders recognized the critical need for a structured community. This community would not only support its members' professional development but also serve as a trusted voice for cybersecurity advocacy, education, and excellence across the nation.

Since our inception, we have been committed to fostering a collaborative environment where expertise is shared, mentorship is encouraged, and the highest standards of the profession are upheld. We are a part of a global network of over 160 chapters, yet our focus remains firmly on the unique challenges and opportunities within the Kenyan ecosystem.

Our Vision

Our vision is a direct reflection of our parent organization's global goal, tailored for our nation:

To help inspire a safe and secure cyber world, right here in Kenya.

We strive to be the most trusted and authoritative voice for cybersecurity in the region. We envision a future where Kenyan organizations are resilient to cyber threats, where our digital economy can thrive securely, and where a robust, skilled, and ethical cybersecurity workforce is the standard, not the exception.

Our Future

The digital transformation of Kenya is accelerating, and with it, the complexity of the threat landscape. Our future focus is on empowering our members to meet these challenges head-on. Our strategic goals include:

  • Expanding Professional Development: Delivering world-class workshops, training sessions, and study groups focused on emerging areas like AI security, cloud security (CCSP), and risk management, tailored to the Kenyan context.
  • Driving Community Engagement: Increasing the frequency and reach of our meetups and events in Nairobi, Thika, and other regions to foster stronger networks and peer-to-peer collaboration.
  • Public and Private Sector Partnerships: Building strong alliances with government bodies, academic institutions, and leading private enterprises to influence policy, share threat intelligence, and promote cybersecurity awareness nationwide.
  • Mentoring the Next Generation: Establishing a formal mentorship program to guide students and associates, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of cybersecurity talent for Kenya's future.
