nnToday is Safer Internet Day, part of a global effort to raise awarenessnof internet safety for everyone that interacts with the internet, whichnis arguably all of us.nn

nSafer Internet Day exists to raise awareness and start a conversation about online safety,nparticularly with young people and other groups in society who may not benfully equipped to stay safe when using the internet or when havingnto interact with key services that are only available online.n

nFor Safer Internet Day 2024, one of the global themes is “Inspiring change?nMaking a difference, managing influence and navigating change online”.n

nThe day promotes the importance of shared responsibility and bringing allnaspects of the professional world together to contribute, support, educatenand enable safer online participation. The aim is to make a safer and betterninternet for everyone, adults and children alike.n

nnThe Center for Cyber Safety and Educationnnis the charitable foundation of ISC2, the world’s leading nonprofit membernorganization for cybersecurity professionals and is an example of how we asna community contribute back to society to inspire change and make andifference online.n

nAbout The Centern

nThe Center leverages the power of its robust global network of experts tonserve the public by educating the most vulnerable about cyber risks,nremoving barriers and empowering access to enter and thrive in the cybernprofession, and helping small organizations to protect themselves from cybernrisks that threaten their very existence.n

nThe Center provides several programs such asnnSafe and Secure Online, that support members in using their skills, knowledge and experience tonsupport and educate their local communities. The Safe and Secure Onlinenprogram empowers tweens, teens, parents, and senior citizens to protectnthemselves in the digital age by learning safe cyber safety practices,nexplained and delivered by cybersecurity professionals.n

nIn addition, the Center inspires change for those pursuing higher education,nadministering a range ofnnscholarshipsnnon behalf of ISC2 and other industry organization to help those with anpassion for a career in cybersecurity to overcome obstacles and achieve andegree or equivalent higher education qualification. Later this year, thenCenter will be announcing cybersecurity certification scholarships. Thesenhelp remove financial barriers standing in the way of advancing in the cybernfield.n

nThe Center also works to inspire positive change among organizations as wellnas individuals. It runs Cybersecurity Health Check, which pairs ISC2nvolunteers with qualified small businesses and nonprofits to help the smallnorganizations understand and minimize their cybersecurity risk. The HealthnCheck is a free activity that provides a cybersecurity checklist showingnplaces where small businesses can identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks,nas well as understand what they are doing well.n
