ISC2 Volunteer Spotlight: Honoring Cyversity’s Atlanta Chapter President, Cassandra Dacus During Women’s History Month

nIn March, women around the world are recognized for their contributions tonhistory, culture, and society, and we honor those women, past and present,nwho fought for equality and women’s rights.n

nIn celebration of Women’s History Month, we are spotlighting one of ournvolunteers, Cassandra Dacus, and her incredible work championing diversitynand inclusion in the cyber profession. Dacus is the Atlanta ChapternPresident of Cyversity, a nonprofit organization that works to achievengreater representation of women, underrepresented minorities, and veteransnin the cybersecurity industry.n

nWith over 13 years of experience in the IT profession, Dacus transitionedninto cybersecurity to help business partners effectively reduce risk andnimprove security program maturity. Dacus holds several technical andnmanagement certifications including the Certified Information SystemnSecurity professional (CISSP) and has served on executive leadership teamsnand boards for various cybersecurity nonprofit organizations.n

nAs a partner with ISC2, Cyversity shares the goal of promoting diversitynwithin the cybersecurity industry and ensuring individuals from allnbackgrounds are equipped for the exciting and lucrative career opportunitiesnthe profession offers. “It is paramount that all talent, including gender,nrace, ethnicity, and culture are not only included but welcomed in thenworkforce,” Dacus said.n

nDacus views the partnership with ISC2 as “a catalyst for positive change,ncontributing to the broader goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion bynfostering learning, building networks, and making a measurable impact in ourncommunities and beyond.” Cyversity and ISC2 have collaborated on severalninitiatives including networking events for cybersecurity professionals innAtlanta, webinar series highlighting women in security, and expandingnCyversity’s program offerings to include access to ISC2 trainings fornentry-level, mid-level and managerial professionals.n

n“Together, Cyversity and ISC2 can leverage our combined expertise andnresources to make a more significant impact on changing the face ofncybersecurity, as collective action is our greatest strength in creating andiverse and inclusive cybersecurity profession,” Dacus said.n

nDacus emphasizes the importance of recognizing not only the achievements ofnwomen during Women’s History Month, but also the struggles and resilience ofnwomen throughout history, as the month provides “an opportunity to educatenabout the overlooked contributions and marginalized narratives of women.”nShe believes the month serves as a vital reminder on the need forninclusivity, equity, and continued effort to uplift the voices andnexperiences of women worldwide.n
