nnIn our rapidly changing profession, there’s no downtime. ISC2 holdsnexam development workshops throughout the year to update and refreshnthe item (aka question) banks and create new exam forms.n
nISC2 Exam Development – be a part of the rigorous examndevelopment process
nnAs a practitioner working in cybersecurity, you are the SubjectnMatter Expert (SME) in the daily tasks executed by today’snprofessionals and the skills needed to complete them successfully.nVolunteers engage in surveys and workshops to create and refreshnISC2 examinations.n
nnJob Task Analysis (JTAs) are a great way to get started. Innaddition to participating in a workshop to review and recommendnupdates to the current exam outline, a survey is emailed to allncurrent ISC2 members who hold the certification being reviewed. Wenask that, upon receipt, you complete the survey linked in the emailn– it’s that simple! Following the survey, another workshop is heldnto finalize the exam outline. Our next JTA is always just around thencorner, the ISSMP survey will open on April 30, 2024.n
nnFurther, SMEs participate in workshops focusing on the creation andnreview of exam content. These workshop volunteers are responsiblenfor developing, establishing, evaluating and revising exam items.n
nnAdditional workshops focus on Item Mapping, which maintains thenquality and currency of exam item banks and Standard Setting, wherenvolunteers collaborate to set fair, appropriate andnindustry-accepted competence levels, recommend passing scores andnmore.n
nnISC2 Unified Body of Knowledgen
nnYou can join a group of global volunteers in developing thencybersecurity industry’s firstnnUnified Body of Knowledge. The result will be a publicly available and easily accessiblencompendium to support the educational needs of cyber professionals.nIt will also help policymakers, regulators and government agenciesnidentify the skills and practices necessary to secure organizationsnof all sizes more effectively. Opportunities include:

- Technical Advisory Panel – SMEs collaborate to inventoryn existing content and knowledge sources related to eachn certification. In these sessions, members evaluate then quality, relevance and accuracy of the existing content ton identify outdated or redundant materials and assess gaps inn knowledge. n
- Content Advisory Panel – A second group of SMEs evaluate then Technical Advisory Panel’s submissions for quality,n accuracy, relevance and adherence to editorial guidelinesn and standards. This group assesses the scientific, technicaln and literary merit of submissions and provides detailedn feedback. n
- Request for Comment – In each cycle of development for then Unified Body of Knowledge, the acquired information so farn is available to the greater cybersecurity community to weighn in on. This period is open for a limited number of days, wen look forward to our first publicly available session comingn soon. n
