ThennU.S. Bureau of Labor Statisticsnnpredicts the availability of Information Security Analyst roles to grow 32%nby 2032, much faster than the average rate of other jobs at 3%.nnnnThe ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Studynnfound the current global workforce gap of cybersecurity talent needed tonprotect organizations is nearly four million professionals. It’s no wondernthat interest in the cyber profession is growing. Not only is there annincreasing need for information defenders, but those currently inncybersecurity roles are reporting higher-than-average salaries.n
nnHow do cyber salaries impact organizations?n
nnOffering sufficient compensation plays a big part in an organization’snsecurity posture. According to our study, 58% of cybersecurity workers innorganizations that don’t offer a competitive salary say they experience anskills gap because of their struggle to retain staff. In comparison, onlyn38% of those at organizations paying competitive wages reported skills gaps.nOverall, 48% of organizations that don’t offer competitive salaries havensignificant skills gaps, compared with just 31% of those that offerncompetitive compensation.n
nnAmong cyber newcomers under the age of 30, the potential for high pay isntied with the thought that the work would be enjoyable when it comes to thentop motivating factors for entering the field. Study participants of allnages ranked their top reasons for entering the profession as: careernadvancement opportunities (27%), high demand for skills (25%), thinking theynwould enjoy the work (25%) and enjoying previous cybersecurity work (24%).n
