nThe ISC2nnAcademic Partnership Networknnsupports the work of academic scholars through research, knowledge, nadvocacy work, teaching and enhancing educational programs. While antraditional university path is less common in cybersecurity than othernprofessions, the route is on the rise. Recent research found that newncybersecurity professionals (1 year or less in the field) are morenlikely than those tenured (10+ years in the field) to have a degree inncybersecurity, 46% to 32%. ISC2 is working to ensure that the optionsnavailable in higher education align with the best practices andnstandards that practitioners use in their careers.n

Conclusion

n

We know the threat landscape is complex, withnnresearchnnshowing that 75% of cybersecurity professionals view the current as thenmost challenging it has been in the past five years. Beyond that, onlyn52% believe that their organization has the tools and people needed tonrespond to cyber incidents over the next two to three years. But, 58% ofncybersecurity professionals said that the negative impact of workernshortages can be mitigated by filling key skills gaps. We found thatnthose who continue their training, education and certificationnreimbursement programs were far better prepared to weather times ofneconomic uncertainty. ISC2 is dedicated to empowering the currentncybersecurity workforce and recruiting new professionals to join thenranks. Access to education – both certification training and continuingneducation – is critical for all.
