ISC2 and the UK Cyber Security Council Take a Closer Look at the Workforce

nISC2 CEO Clar Rosso and the Council’s Chair of the Board of Trustees DrnClaudia Natanson MBE recently sat down together to discuss the latest ISC2nCybersecurity Workforce Study, the Council’s initiatives to expand the UKncyber workforce, new and alternative pathways into a cybersecurity careernalong with answering questions from the audience.n

nThe UK Cyber Security Council is the self-regulatory body for the UK’s cybernsecurity profession. It develops, promotes and stewards nationallynrecognized standards for cybersecurity in support of the UK Government’snNational Cyber Security Strategy to make the UK the safest place to live andnwork online. ISC2 is a Showcase Member of the Council and was also part ofnthe consortium that built the Council on behalf of the UK Government.n

nIn an extensive webinar discussion, the leaders of both organizations took anclose look at the UK findings from the most recent ISC2 CybersecuritynWorkforce Study, which revealed that the UK needs a further 73,000 cybernsecurity workers to fill the gap that currently exists between supply andndemand. While the UK cybersecurity workforce is growing, the unfulfillednneed is growing at a faster rate, creating a gap that puts all organizationsnat risk.n

nHowever, with more than for in five noting that there are now morenalternative pathways into the industry, the opportunity to make meaningfulninroads into both workforce and skills gaps is very clearly in place. Fornthose already in the profession, 59% of respondents said they were familiarnwith thennUK Cyber Security Council’s professional titlesnn, with almost half (48%) considering or decided on pursuing one of thentitles available to qualified cybersecurity professionals.n
