nnAlexandria, Va., January 26, 2024–nnThe Center for Cyber Safety and Educationnn, the charitable arm of ISC2 – thenworld’s leading nonprofit member organization for cybersecuritynprofessionals – announced it is nownnaccepting applicationsnnfor its 2024 cybersecurity scholarships. This year, the scholarships willnprovide financial funding of $115,000 to 54nnundergraduatennandnngraduatennstudents and several scholarships for women, includingnnISC2 Women’s Scholarshipnn,nnKnowBe4 Women in Cybersecurity Scholarshipnnand thennSamantha Jennings-Jones Memorial Scholarshipnn.n
nnThe scholarships were created to provide financial assistance to aspiringncybersecurity professionals from diverse backgrounds from around the world.nnResearchnnshows that 69% of cybersecurity teams acknowledge that an inclusivenenvironment is essential for success, and 65% feel it’s important that theirnsecurity team is diverse; however, the cybersecurity workforce does not yetnrepresent that.nnn
nnApplicants must be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus onncybersecurity or a similar field in the fall of 2024, with at least a 3.3nGPA on a 4.0 scale. The Center for Cyber Safety and Education evaluatesnapplicants based on academic excellence, passion for cybersecurity andnfinancial need.n
nn“Last year, the Center awarded 71 scholarships to offset the financialnburden for students pursuing careers in cybersecurity, and we are proud tondo it again,” said Holly Schneider Brown, Center Senior Director. “In 2023,nthe Center had a 73% increase in overall scholarship applications, which isnindicative of the growing financial need of students, as well as increasedninterest in cybersecurity as an academic discipline. Even more exciting isnthat 98% of those who received Center scholarships last year were fromnunderrepresented groups in cyber, demonstrating progress in diversifying thenfuture talent pipeline.”n
nnIn addition to the financial award for school, recipients can pursue thennCertified in Cybersecuritynncertification exam for free through the ISC2nnOne Million Certified in Cybersecurity programnn, which will help launch their new careers. Becoming an ISC2 member providesnrecipients an opportunity to connect with cybersecurity professionals,nparticipate in educational sessions such as webinars and events, and receiveninformation about internships and career opportunities.n
nnNew this year is the Samantha Jennings-Jones Memorial Scholarship, whichnfinancially assists women seeking to start or advance their careers inncybersecurity. More than 150 family and friends raised funds to honor thenmemory of Jennings-Jones, a dedicated public servant and key member of thenteam that drafted the National Cybersecurity Strategy.n
