Are you looking for your next challenge? Consider serving on the ISC2 Boardnof Directors! The Board is comprised of ISC2-certified cybersecuritynprofessionals from around the world who provide strategic direction,ngovernance, and oversight for ISC2; develop policies and procedures; grantncertifications; and enforce the ISC2 Code of Ethics. Board participation isnnot only an essential part of our corporate governance but also an importantnprofessional development and learning opportunity.

nYour first step is to self-nominate during the Open Call for BoardnNominations, which starts on January 25 and closes on February 22, 2024.n

n

nYou may have noticed that we’re opening the call for nominations early thisnyear. This is something that thenNominations Committee (a body appointed by the Board to manage the nominations process, comprised of Board members and certified ISC2 members-at-large) has recommended. Thisnearly start gives the Nominations Committee more time to score,nevaluate and discuss Director applications. Additionally, this allows thenISC2 Board to be organized by by the end of Q3 2024, providing directors andnofficers with more time to discuss roles and expectations, adjust worknschedules and arrange necessary committees.n

nWhen does the Board meet?n

n

nEach quarter, the Board of Directors meets in person or virtually with ISC2nleadership. Board members also participate in virtual meetings or conferencencalls throughout the year to attend to committees or other matters.n

n

nWhat makes a good Board candidate?n

n

nThe Board is looking for versatile candidates with the following qualities:n

    n
  1. Prior professional experience (not limited to the cybersecurity field) as laid out in the Board of Directors job description
  2. n
  3. Governance and strategic planning experience
  4. n
  5. Geographical expertise
  6. n
  7. Education, training, and accomplishments
  8. n
  9. Awards, peer recognitions, social influence, or other thoughtn leadership
  10. n
  11. Contributions made to ISC2
  12. n
  13. Explanation of how their involvement as a Director could benefit members
  14. n

nThe nomination processn

n

nTo be considered for the ISC2 Board of Director election, self-nominationnapplications will need to include:n

    n
  • n Personal background informationn
  • n
  • n Résumé / CVn
  • n
  • n Two letters of recommendationn
  • n
  • n A completed questionnaire including how they will provide direction andn support for the organization’s strategyn
  • n

nWhen the call for nominations closes on February 22, all completednapplications will be sent to the Nominations Committee for review andnscoring. By the end of March, the committee will offer its recommendationsnfor nominees to the entire Board of Directors. Once approved, thenrecommended nominees are put on the ballot for members to vote on.n

nMembers who participate in the call for nominations, but are not selected,nwill be notified before the candidates are announced.n
