nDr. Kevin Charest, CISSPn

nDr. Charest is an Executive VP and CTO at HITRUST, and we recognize hisnvisionary insight that sparked the creation of the ISC2 Certified innCybersecurity (CC) certification, effectively addressing the workforce andnskills gap at scale. As a former member of our Board of Directors,nincluding a two-time chair, his idea has helped grow the pipeline for thennext generation of cybersecurity professionals and demonstrated thentransformative power of a single concept.n

nKaren Rosser-Newbold, CCn

n

nKaren is an IT specialist at the University of Maryland and she is anvalued member of the Women in Cybersecurity organization, WiCyS. Withnthis award we are celebrating her pioneering spirit as she quicklyncompleted the Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) course within the firstnweekend of the launch and continued her engagement with ISC2 as a studentnmentor. Her dedication has not ended there as she has also volunteerednwith ISC2 by participating in an exam development workshop in May andnreviewing scholarship applications in June. She’s been a valuable advocatenfor the CC credential and has already made a tremendous impact amongnothers seeking the certification.n

nConfidence is theFounder and ExecutivenDirector of CyberSafe Foundation. We are honoring her for her worknincreasing accessibility of cybersecurity careers among African womennthrough her CyberGirls training program. The success of CyberGirlsnunderscores Confidence’s unwavering commitment to amplifying diversity andninclusion and increasing the accessibility of career opportunities withinnthe cybersecurity field.n

The Center Outstanding Volunteer Award

nThe Outstanding Volunteer Award recognizes an individual who hasnsignificantly contributed to the betterment of society and the cybersecurityncommunity through the support of the Center for Cyber Safety and Education,nthe charitable arm of ISC2. The Center’s mission is to grow thencybersecurity profession and its positive impact on the world by raisingnawareness, building a diverse pipeline of cybersecurity professionals andnenabling a more secure digital world.n

nPanagiotis Soulos, CISSP, CCSPn

nPanagiotis is a Global Information Security Manager at Intrum. This year, henhas contributed significant time and effort reviewing, translating andnpresenting Safe and Secure Online, as well as inspiring a solid base ofncybersecurity professionals to volunteer with public outreach efforts. Henhas been leading public awareness activities for the Center for Cyber Safetynand Education and serving in discussion panels and as a mentor fornWomen4Cyber Greece. Panagiotis is also an active leader in the ISC2 HellenicnChapter and has been instrumental in the chapter’s success in receiving anrecognition award in 2022.n

nISC2 Chapter Recognition Awards are presented to official chapters thatnbest promote the vision of ISC2 by inspiring a safe and secure cyber world.nChapters must demonstrate a well-rounded offering of activities andnservices designed to benefit members and affiliates, while significantlyncontributing to the profession and local community through the ISC2 ChapternProgram of Connect, Educate, Inspire and Secure.n

nNorth America: ISC2 Alamo Chaptern

n

nThe Alamo Chapter excelled in its commitment to career development throughnworkshops on résumé reviews and elevator pitches, as well as connectingnmembers with technical recruiters to find meaningful career paths inncybersecurity. They host monthly presentations, seminars and workshopsnsupporting professional growth and providing opportunities for ContinuingnProfessional Education. The Chapter’s student mentoring program hasnestablished cyber education programs and inspired students to build theirnfuture in cybersecurity. Additionally, their fundraising initiatives havenmade a meaningful impact, benefiting scholarships and educationalnopportunities for underprivileged students.n

nAsia-Pacific: ISC2 Japan Chaptern

n

nThe Japan Chapter is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and hasnfostered a strong, growing, engaged cybersecurity community. They activelynprovide valuable content and resources to their broader community, raisingnawareness and promoting cybersecurity best practices for all. Theirnnoteworthy initiatives encompass seven working groups addressing specificnsecurity challenges and connecting members and non-members with experts.nMoreover, the Chapter has been instrumental in bridging the gender gap inncybersecurity through their Japan Women in Security working group, whichnhosts mentorship programs and provides networking opportunities for femalentalents.n

nEMEA: ISC2 Nigeria Chaptern

n

nThrough more than 20 events organized in 2022, the Nigeria Chapter hasnprovided a diverse range of educational opportunities. The Chapter’s impactnextends beyond its members as it hosted a national cybersecurity conferencenthat brought together eminent security professionals and practitioners tonaddress critical cybersecurity issues. Their dedication to promotingndiversity and inclusion is evident through initiatives like the Girl-Childnin Cybersecurity Field session and the Women in Cybersecurity program,ninspiring and empowering female talents in the industry. The Chapter’snengagement with educational institutions and community outreach tonsecondary schools has nurtured cybersecurity talents from a young age andncreated security ambassadors within the country.n
