nnISC2 voluntary commitment to support the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiativenwill focus on university students, recent graduates, career changers andnother professionals wishing to expand their skills, helping to build anworkforce-ready pipeline of individuals seeking employment withinncybersecurity or other Deep Tech industries.n
nnThe efforts being made in Europe and across the globe to keep pace with thengrowing demand for security professionals have, to this point not beennenough and have highlighted an increased need for innovative ideas fromngovernment and business to draw new talent into the workforce.n
nnThere are significant opportunities for individuals with diverse skillsets,nseeking information security roles in nearly every industry. Cybersecuritynis one of the few sectors that heavily impacts nearly every industry. Thisnprovides ample opportunity for those with varied backgrounds to have thenchance to get involved in the sector who might never have had thosenopportunities previously.n
nnBy gaining an ISC2 certification and becoming a member, recipients can helpncompanies in the Deep Tech industry manage cybersecurity risk, whilenbuilding a pathway to a rewarding career in cybersecurity.n
nnIn October, 2022,nnThe Deep Tech Talent Initiativenn, a part of the European Commission’s New European Innovation Agenda,nannounced thennPledge for Deep Tech Talentsnn. ISC2 support of the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative is geared towardnorganisations and individuals residing in EU Member States. It is also openntonnHorizon Europenn, a key EU funding programme for research and innovation and EU partnerncountries.n
nnUniting public and private organisations, industry representatives andnchampions, academic partners, education providers, and Member States tonsupport the initiative, the pledge aims to build a workforce-ready pipelinenof individuals interested in a career in cybersecurity or other Deep Technindustries in Europe. EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative is driving toward angoal of providing cybersecurity training to one million people in deep technbetween 2023 and 2025.n
nnUpon passing the exam, a candidate will become a certified member of ISC2nwhere they can enjoy access to a full spectrum of resources and exclusivenbenefits that enable them to expand their skills and continue theirnprofessional education providing them valuable skills that employers arenlooking for. The demand for information and systems security professionalsnin the EU and around the globe continues to increase. Our ISC2 WorkforcenStudy revealed European demand for cybersecurity professionals stands atn260k, a 12% increase from the previous year.n
nnThe EU cybersecurity workforce needs to increase to 29% to close the skillsngap. According to the EU participants in our study 69% of those surveyednfeel their organisation does not have enough cybersecurity staff tontroubleshoot security issues. Smaller organisations are more vulnerable whennthey have a lack of dedicated, skilled cybersecurity professionals on staffnand it puts them at greater risk for a cyber-attack.n
nnThis latest commitment from ISC2 comes on the heels of a similar agreementnmade earlier this year, also with the European Commission. In April ISC2npledged a minimum of 20,000nnCertified in Cybersecuritynnentry-level certification exam and education programs for free to helpnaddress the critical cybersecurity skills gap in Europe and grow thencybersecurity workforce. Geared to career changers, recent graduates andnentry- and junior-level cybersecurity practitioners, ISC2 is proud tonpartner with the European Commission and assert these commitments thatnprioritize workforce development and create innovative pathways into thensector to address the skills gap.n
